Scholarships South Coast Performing Arts is dedicated to promoting students' disciplined study of high-quality dance instruction. Each year the Serra family awards a number of tuition scholarships known as the Talia Serra Bradley Memorial Scholarship to a select group of students to assist them in furthering their dance education. These scholarships are based solely on financial need and are open to all dancers of SCPA. Scholarships will be awarded to as many dancers as the Serra’s can impact in a significant way, with a base amount of $500 per season. New for 2025 is an Artistry Scholarship based on a dancer’s artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement. This program will be funded solely through donations to the South Coast Stars Booster Club with a goal of awarding one winner a $1,000 scholarship and three finalists each a $500 scholarship. All applications will be reviewed and recipients will be chosen by an independent panel of experts. Competitive Teams Competition Team Communication Hub At South Coast, we have competition teams that range from beginning to advanced dancers. If your dancer loves being on stage and wants an opportunity to shine, please reach out for more information! Join The Team Rubber Duckies Performing Group Shooting Stars Company Rubber Duckies gives dancers, between the ages of 3-5 years old, a chance to take class and work on choreography throughout the year. In addition, they attend 2 competitions and perform in our Holiday Show and annual June recital. Performing Group is for dancers who wish to increase their training and participate in a competitive venue. These dancers train 3-5 hours per week and compete at 2 competitions plus our Holiday Show and our Annual June Recital. Learn More Our Shooting Stars team highlights dancers who are dedicated to the sport and who have goals of joining our Company Program in the future. These dancers take 4-6 hours of training per week, compete at 4 competitions, and participate in our annual Holiday Show & recital in June. The South Coast Company is for select, dedicated dancers ready to commit to a 5-10-hour training schedule (dependent upon age.) They compete at 5 competitions a year, attend conventions, and perform in our annual Holiday Show and June Recital. Company team placements take place in June. Recital Information Recital Registration We are looking forwar d to celebrating our 22nd annual recital with all of you on Friday, June 20 & Saturday, June 21, 2025. A Few Reminders Arrive 60 minutes before show time. (i.e. Show begins at 12:30 PM. The backstage door opens at 11:00 AM and closes at 11:30 AM for dancer drop-off.) Parents are not allowed backstage. Dancers will be dropped off at the backstage check-in point. Come with hair slicked into a bun, center part with no bangs. Remove all jewelry and nail polish before arriving. No photography or recording is allowed during the shows. Please no food in the auditorium or backstage areas, water bottles only. Dancers will remain backstage until the entire performance is over. Enjoy a joyful, family-friendly event featuring our talented dancers showcasing fun, upbeat routines. This community-centered show is perfect for all ages, celebrating the season through music, dance, and holiday cheer. Don't miss this heartwarming event – it’s the perfect way to kick off the holidays with friends and family! Arrive 30 minutes before show time. 9:30 a.m. show, dancers arrive at 9:00 a.m. 11:15 a.m. show, dancers arrive at 10:45 a.m. Holiday shows are 45 minutes to one hour long. The competition team season preview is approximately one hour and thirty minutes. Parents are not allowed backstage. Dancers will be dropped off at the backstage check-in point. Dancers are to wear all-black dance clothes and add their own holiday flare for the holiday shows. The competition team preview attire is all-black dance wear.
